EU Project Coordinator of ELSA (f/m/d)

CISPA - Helmholtz Centre for IT Security is a large-scale federal research institution within the Helmholtz Association. It researches information security in all its facets.
With its continuous growth, CISPA as a Helmholtz Center will have the necessary critical mass of researchers (500+) to address a comprehensive and holistic treatment of the pressing grand challenges in cybersecurity and privacy research that our society is facing in the age of digitalization. CISPA aims to take a prominent position in research, transfer and innovation at the international level by combining cutting-edge, often revolutionary basic research with innovative application-oriented research, appropriate technology transfer and societal discourse. Thematically, it aims to cover the entire spectrum from theory to empirical research. It is deeply rooted in computer science and collaborates in an interdisciplinary way with researchers in related fields such as medicine, law, and the social sciences.

Main Activities and Responsibilities

  • CISPA has the coordinating role of the EU-funded virtual center of excellence ELSA. The position of the administrative manager is first of all supporting the scientific coordinator and at the same time the main point of contact at the coordination office, established at the CISPA Grants Support department. In addition, the ELSA support team consists of one Bridgehead Officer and a Communication Expert.
  • As the project coordinator it is your task to set up the overall support structure to answer the needs of the partners and the external stakeholders. 
  • Following and re-elaborating the strategical goals of the consortium require continuous background research and an efficient and effective interaction between the project partners with other networks (European AI community, ELLIS, and others).
  • The monitoring of the project tasks and the spending plans of the partners and the management of the internal communication process are the major part of the task package you handle. This goes along with the facilitation and ensuring of the reporting tasks as well as the planning and organisation of project meetings, workshops and other events including the travel coordination for project members and guests.
  • Moreover, you are responsible for keeping track of activities across networks and to prepare describing texts and statistics for reports in order to reflect the success of the network.
  • The presentation of the project results is a fundamental part of the dissemination activities. You assist to prepare the public talks of the project members and are ready to represent the consortia in a non-scientific, project related context.

Your Qualifications

  • Academic degree preferably in computer science, business informatics, business studies or a comparable field of study;
  • Experience in project management, preferably in EU funded projects;
  • Experience in working with research institutions and associations;
  • Excellent planning skills, is able to meet tight deadlines, shifting between different tasks and keeping good overview of priorities;
  • Strong interpersonal, intercultural, and communication skills;
  • Pro-active and hands-on mentality, service-oriented work attitude;
  • Responsibility, flexibility, ability to work both in team and independently
  • Fluency in English and German (both in writing and speaking).

The position is initially limited to 2 years, after which it has the possibility of converting into a permanent contract. The remuneration and social benefits are based on the collective agreement for the public service (TVöD Bund). The classification depends on the qualifications and the tasks assigned. Severely disabled persons will be given preferential consideration in the event of equal suitability.
